A Milestone Celebration

2024 marks a significant milestone for O&H Danish Bakery as we celebrate our 75th anniversary.  To honor this momentous occasion, we hosted a grand 75th Anniversary Party on September 14th at our Washington location.  This event kicked off the availability of our four specialty Kringle flavors at all our locations, each representing a different generation and decade of our rich history.

Free Kringle Samples

One of the event’s highlights was the free Kringle samples available for all attendees.  Visitors could taste and purchase our specialty Kringles, experiencing the unique flavors that have been crafted to celebrate our decades-long heritage.

Exploring Our Limited Edition Kringles

Each of our four specialty Kringles tells a story of a different era in our bakery’s history.  Let’s take a closer look at these delightful creations:

The Fab 1950s:  Apricot Sugar Kringle

The 1950s marked the establishment of our bakery.  Our first-generation founder, Christian Olesen, created traditional Kringles that quickly became favorites.  The Apricot Sugar Kringle, with its sweet apricot filling and a sprinkling of coarse sugar, captures the essence of this era.

The Sweet 1970s:  Pineapple Pecan Kringle

Inspired by the rise of Hawaiian culture in the 1970s, the second generation created the Pineapple Pecan Kringle, blending tropical pineapple with nutty pecans and cane brown sugar.  This groovy combination, topped with sweet icing and sugared pecan pieces, celebrates the Aloha spirit.

The Nifty 1990s:  Custard Almond Poppyseed Kringle

The 1990s were a time of experimentation and award-winning success for our bakery and the third generation.  The Custard Almond Poppyseed Kringle combines almond, smooth custard, and crunchy poppyseeds.  This decadent creation, topped with streusel and icing, is a true testament to our innovative spirit.

The Tasty 2020s:  Cherry Almond Macaron Kringle

Representing the current decade, the Cherry Almond Macaron Kringle combines the comforting flavors of cherry and almond.  Created to represent the current fourth generation, this modern twist on a classic favorite is perfect for today’s coffee lovers.

A Community Affair

Our 75th Anniversary Party was more than just a celebration of our business; it was a celebration of our community.  Members of the local community, including special dignitaries, joined us to make the day even more special.  Speeches from family members and local leaders highlighted the pivotal role our community has played in our success.

Fun and Games for All Ages

To ensure there was something for everyone, we provided engaging activities like a digital photo booth, giant Jenga, and Connect Four.  Coloring pages kept the little ones entertained, making it a fun-filled day for families.

A Day Filled with Joy and Music

The celebration was nothing short of spectacular, with live music setting the tone for a day of festivities.  The North Cape Express Band, a local Racine group, played hits from various decades, keeping the energy high and the atmosphere lively, making it a day to remember for everyone who attended.

Savoring the Flavors

From the music to the meals, it was important for us to celebrate with local vendors, and we loved having Streetza Pizza join in on the fun. Visitors could enjoy a slice, which complemented our delectable treats at O&H Danish Bakery and added a savory note to the day's celebrations.
